Open testing program
What it is: Interlaboratory proficiency testing to monitor and improve technical competence in calibration, testing and inspection.
Best for: Routine performance checks, accreditation evidence (ISO/IEC 17043).
Outcome: Objective evidence for audits and continuous improvement.
Bilateral Testing Programs
What it is: A customized PT where participant results are compared against a designated reference laboratory.
Best for: New methods, limited participants, method verification.
Outcome: Clear comparison vs. reference, targeted corrective actions.
Comparative Testing for Consumer Products & Services (CTPS)
What it is: Comparative testing of products, services—or both—for organizations that run benchmarking programs.
Scope: Local, national or international markets; narrowly defined or broad characteristics (clearly scoped).
Outcome: Credible, reproducible comparisons for consumer-facing communication.
External Results Quality Assurance Program (EQP)
What it is: Ongoing external assurance of laboratory results aligned with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 (7.7.1–7.7.3)
(and legacy 5.9.1(c)/5.5.2).
How it works: Regular comparison vs. a reference laboratory with predefined acceptance criteria.
Outcome: Sustained result quality and documented evidence for audits.
