DETERMINATION

METHOD

Throughput DeterminationDetermination of the maximum forwarding rate at which zero frame loss occurs under steady-state conditions using binary search convergence methodology in accordance with RFC 2544 §26.1 — Throughput. Conducted separately for IPv4 UDP and IPv4 TCP traffic at all mandatory Ethernet frame sizes.
Latency DeterminationDetermination of forwarding latency under stable forwarding conditions at the throughput rate established for the corresponding test case, in accordance with RFC 2544 §26.2 — Latency. Measurements shall include minimum, maximum, average, median, and percentile-based latency characterization.
Frame Loss Rate DeterminationDetermination of frame loss behavior under varying offered-load conditions using load sweeps from 100% to 10% of line rate, in accordance with RFC 2544 §26.3 — Frame Loss Rate. Includes identification of loss onset and characterization of forwarding degradation behavior.
Back-to-Back Frames DeterminationDetermination of the maximum burst size of back-to-back frames transmitted at line rate without frame loss, in accordance with RFC 2544 §26.4 — Back-to-Back Frames. Includes evaluation of buffering and transient congestion behavior.
Sequence Integrity VerificationVerification of sequence continuity, frame ordering, duplicate frames, and missing frames using sequence numbering mechanisms as recommended in RFC 2544 §10 — Frame Formats.
Forwarding Stability VerificationVerification that the DUT maintains stable forwarding operation during benchmark execution without interface instability, reboot events, forwarding interruption, or abnormal forwarding behavior. Methodology aligned with RFC2544 operational execution principles and PT operational requirements.
Reproducibility and Repeatability AssessmentEvaluation of internal measurement consistency and interlaboratory reproducibility based on repeated benchmark execution and statistical comparison of participant results. Methodology derived from RFC2544 benchmarking discipline and PT statistical evaluation procedures.
